Hi Mum, how you doing?
I mean... really doing?
Motherhood is a dichotomy of extremes.
The highest highs and the lowest lows.
Intense joy and insane frustration.
Love that overwhelms you and exhaustion that overtakes you.
Those extremes can wear us down and tire our soul.
I know, I know.
Taking care of yourself feels like one more thing to add to your long "to-do" list. And how are you supposed to take care of yourself when you have other's relying on you to take care of them?
Please listen to me carefully, Mama, I have been there.
What I have learnt in 15 years of Mothering is, don't fight the urge of needing a break. Don't fight it, give in to it. Short and sweet breaks, or long and luscious breaks. Do it, and leave any guilt behind.
arise.YOGA and Ravensbourne Escape have the perfect "short and sweet" break for not only Mothers, but for all women who need a full day of being removed from the expectations, the lists, the needs, the worry.
From 8am Sunday 5th May, Terri from arise.YOGA will nurture you with movement, relaxation, mindfulness, meditation, food and music.
8.30 am - Arrival at Ravensbourne Escape
8.45 am - Slow Vinyasa Yoga Practice (1.5 hours for all levels)
10.15 am - Fresh Fruit, herbal tea & sharing circle on the balcony *
11.15 am - Outdoor Thai Chi inspired movement *
12 noon - 2 Course Lunch at "The Woods" Restaurant (vegetarian with a glass of wine of your choice - vegan option available)
1.00 pm - Gentle Yin Yoga (2 hour practice covering the entire body)
3.00 pm - Yoga Nidra
3.30 pm - Completion

Slow Vinyasa Yoga is a practice where we flow from pose to pose slowly and mindfully, these types of movements can be altered for all levels of ability and fitness.
Gentle Yin Yoga is a sequence of mainly seated poses that follow a line through the body to lengthen, hydrate and stress (in a good way) the musculoskeletal system, super long holds.
Yoga Nidra is a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping, like the "going to sleep" stage. It is a state in which the body is completely relaxed, and you become increasingly aware of the inner world by following a set of verbal instructions, while lying in a warm room, supported by bolsters, pillows and blankets.
